Your privacy
Last updated 20 October 2026.
Who we are
Tell It Back is run from Darwin NT, ABN 96 962 449 249. Questions about your privacy go to tellitbackapp@gmail.com.
Everything stays on your phone
Your told marks, where you stopped listening, your settings and text size, and every recording you make or add are saved only on your device. There are no accounts, no tracking and no ads.
Recordings are never uploaded. "Send home" hands a recording to the messaging app you choose (WhatsApp, Signal, Messages), the same as sending any voice note. Tell It Back itself never sees it.
What the feedback forms send
The feedback forms are the only thing Tell It Back sends. Nothing is sent unless you press Send. When you do, we receive:
- Send feedback: what worked, what you'd change, your name if you give it, the story you were on, and a screenshot only if you attach one.
- Quick check-in (under a story): your rating and any notes, whether you told it, and the story it's about.
- With both: the app's build number and your phone type and browser, to help fix bugs.
Forms are delivered through Netlify Forms, which stores the submission so we can read it. We use it only to improve the app and reply to you.
Like any website, the page itself is served by Netlify, and its fonts come from Google Fonts, so those services see a normal web request from your device. No story progress or recordings go with it.
Deleting your data
On your phone: delete recordings from each story page, clear told marks in Settings, or remove the app or clear this site's data in your browser to wipe everything.
Anything you've sent us: email tellitbackapp@gmail.com and say what to delete (for example "my feedback from last week"). We'll delete it and confirm within 30 days.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you're not happy with how we've handled a request, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
